The day starts with a visit to “Achillion Palace” built for Empress Elizabeth of Austria. Enjoy a guided tour at the museum and wonderful garden full of statues from Greek mythology and with stunning views. We continue along the East Coast passing the most famous attraction of Corfu: Pontikonissi (Mouse Island) and Vlacherna Monastery. Enjoy a short drive through Corfu town with influences of the Venetians, British, French, and Greeks. This makes Corfu town unlike any other city in Greece. Crossing through the central part of the island we reach Paleokastritsa on the west coast. Here we have free time to walk up to the famous monastery on top of the hill, enjoy a short boat trip to exquisite sea-caves or stop at the lovely aquarium with a fascinating collection of Mediterranean fish and reptiles.
Leaving Paleokastritsa behind us we drive op to the mountains that reign above the bays. At the traditional village of Lakones we have our lunch break. Enjoy traditional Greek dishes in a restaurant high above the road with breathtaking views over the bays of Paleokastritsa.
We resume our journey through the hills and the olive groves, to the northeast of the island and the picturesque fishing village of Kassiopi with free time for a drink and a stroll around the pretty harbor. We drive back to your hotel passing the north-east coast of Corfu Island where you can watch the closest point between Corfu and the Albanian coastline as we pass by the villages of Kouloura and Kalami with the renowned home of Lawrence Durrell.
